Low Income Apartments
The phrase "low income apartments" may make you think of substandard housing in poor areas of town, but nothing could be further from the truth. The Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), part of the Tax Reform Act of 1986, gives incentives to real estate developers who devote a certain percentage of an apartment building's units to low income housing. These low income apartments are only available to people below a certain income range, and are often indistinguishable from regularly-priced rentals in the same area.
