Our "Apartments for Rent" section is more than just a listing of apartments in your area. It won't help to know what is for rent in your area if you don't understand the difference between various types of apartments. For example, take this listing: "Apartment for rent, bachelor, low income, Vine Street, $500/mo." How would you know if this was a good bargain? Does "low income" mean it's in a bad area of town? Can you tell by looking at this fictional ad how many bedrooms the apartment has, or whether it has a full or efficiency kitchen? These last two are trick questions, by the way, as you'll learn after reading this section.

Even if you think you're ready to start browsing actual apartments for rent, it couldn't hurt to look through this section and familiarize yourself with terms. If you find an apartment listed for rent in just the right area of town, you may not know if it's worth a phone call unless you've done your research first.
